The New View Art Room

We are an artist led studio offering workshops for those in need of support to re-engage with society, make friends, build confidence, learn new skills, have fun and take time to relax.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and abilities including anyone struggling with ill health, addiction, grief, displacement, unemployment, loneliness, social isolation and anxiety.

Taking part in creative activities can be incredibly therapeutic and help to relieve stress and tension in the body, help you gain a sense of control, or equally a sense of freedom or escapism. Many art techniques can be meditative and help to practice mindfulness.

You also have the benefit of working with a diverse group of people with the opportunity to socialize and make friends as well as develop many transferable skills such as team work and communication.

Absolutely no experience or artistic background is necessary as you will be guided and encouraged throughout each activity.

Our studio is open Monday to Friday and workshops in drawing and painting, textiles, printmaking, clay work, animation and much more, run 10am – 12.30pm. The afternoon sessions, 1.30pm – 4pm, are available for you to use the equipment to either continue with a project you’ve started with us, or start a project of your own.

We ask that clients reserve a place on each workshop in advance by contacting us at SWADS.
